If you like our coffee you'll go ape for our bananas!!

For nearly 70 years, Hacienda La Amistad has been recognized as producing some of the finest coffee on the planet. In recent years the farm and its surrounding Natural Reserve have caught the attention of environmentalist and conservationist alike. The 23,000 acre reserve abounds with primary forest and all the flora and fauna which flourish in this environment.
Coffee production has been the economic force making preservation of the reserve possible. Recent market conditions have stretched the farms ability to maintain its strict credo; so new sources of income are being explored. For years, a small quantity of Œgros Michel banana grew in concert with the coffee. The banana added bio-diversity, shade, a source of organic material and a good food source for the many workers who are responsible for the coffee.
The Œgros Michel banana has a delicate flavor not found in most varieties. Anyone who visits La Amistad gets to eat some of this wonderful fruit whenever they like.
Now that great taste is going to be available to a very limited market in the US. We have begun to dehydrate a portion of the banana crop and hope to have the first production available by the end of October.
Skal International is the organic certifier for Hacienda La Amistad. Skal has included the banana in their organic certification. A copy of Skal's document is available upon request.
Like all Reserva Dorada? fruit products, fruit is the only ingredient, never an added preservative, juice or sweetener.
